Nickent Golf is name die hard golfers recognize as being synonymous with great products at better than decent prices. The Nickent 4DX Fairway Wood is a true gem on the golf course and player gold. As all golfers know – golf is not just about skill and luck. The equipment you choose plays a strong roll in how your game may very well turn out. Nickent Golf proudly introduces us to the new kid on the block, the Nickent 4DX Fairway Wood.
The 4DX Fairway wood is one of the first of its kind with a new technology, an innovation if you will, which allows the manufacturers to fuse steel to titanium (and vice versa) without the use of easily broken epoxy. A very thin crown of titanium is taken and fused with a stainless steel body by a brazing technology. Removing the crown and replacing it with this superbly thin titanium technology (titanium weighs much less than steel by the way) the Nickent Golf company was able to raise the MOI by leaps and bounds and to enlarge the face which makes the sweet spot larger.
With the addition of the crown, Nickent was able to include on the fairway wood (as found on most of their 2007 line) their XW Inserts. These inserts give the golfer 16 grams of adjustable weights that can be adjusted in increments of 2 grams. This allows more directional control and swing weight ratios that are balanced and you no longer need to rely on the typical screw assemblies found on other clubs and as such the impact harshness on impact is removed.
The 4DX Fairway Wood boasts a very classic shape including green inserts and tungsten plugs. There is nothing on this club that could distract you from the N alignment. The club is not gargantuan in size either. It is big enough so that you will have confidence when striking off of the tee and not so big as to think you will launch your club down the fairway on the back swing.
I really love the face of this club because the Nickent company went out of their way to make the 4DX wood a great, solid feel an you will be able to feel the strike of the ball easily as the vibration travels up through the shaft. A great hit will be felt all the way up the shaft. You can literally feel the explosion off the club and can tell where on the head you have struck the ball – no more impact tape.
My Conclusion
I was one of those guys – you know the type – I hated the idea of woods on the fairway. I tried a wide variety from the Nike Sasquatch, Old Callaway Steelhead and a TM r5. I do not know if I will be changing my set up any time soon, but – if I was – I am positive that the 4DX wood will make its way into my arsenal of clubs. I like to have the distance off the fairway and the Nickent 4DX fairway wood provides that, and the price just puts the icing on the cake for me.
