Golf is a game of averages, skills and equipment. You get the driving club that gets you those par shots but what about your short game? The putter is a crucial club to round out your over all arsenal. For that job I introduce you to the Monza Spider by TaylorMade.

The Monza Spider is touted strongly by TaylorMade for the high MOI (moment of inertia) which is the measurement of the putter’s head weight property and just how that weight is dispersed throughout the club. If a putter has a high MOI is resistant to the twisting and the turning you get when you impact on the ball. The club becomes more forgiving to that strain which enhances the consistency and accuracy of your shot.

The head of the Spider is a wire-frame that increases weight position around the perimeter. This adds stability on those shots you do not get contact on. With a light core made of aluminum the club allows more weight to be placed on the perimeter which increases the MOI.

You can change the weights on the Spider by way of the Movable Weight Technology. There is an optional weighting kit available. You can increase the Spider’s weight up to 20 grams. This increases your chance of greatly balancing the club specifically for you.

This beast of a club could have been known by so many other names like Kong. The Spider measures, from face to rear, a whopping 4 inches and is a little larger than 4 inches at the widest portion of the club. A putter that looks like this will have those who seem to talk bad about it – it is not a classic “pure” style club – it is unique. The Spider is the future of the golf.
Although a bit visually loud with a silver outer harness and a black body with a white racing stripe and you can see the greens through the webbing on the head. These things can mess with your mind’s eyes during your up and down swing. If you can get away from all of that flash and bling and get down to the guts of the putter is a highly focused straight stroke with an MOI that is as they say it is.

The weight cartridges are useful but the putter is weighted quite well for the majority of players straight from the box. Use the club a few times before deciding on changing the weights or not. The Spider is a club that just looks hard when in fact it is pretty light.
